The one day I need to get my act together and actually have my damned laundry come out at a reasonable hour is the day our dryer, which is about as old as I am, decides not to work. I'm still waiting for my clothes to come out dry so I can finish packing for tomorrow.
And it's 3:50 am. Looking forward to sleeping on the bus...
I'm going to the Toronto Pagan Conference tomorrow for the weekend, coming back Sunday evening. The Conference is taking place at Valhalla Inn, quite apt for a bunch of Pagans.
AND NOW I AM CAUGHT UP WITH PROJECT 365! THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE!
I'll try not to get so far behind in the future. Really.
Photos of the Conference after the weekend, cheers!
Because I am a thousand shades of awesome and know that so are Foamy and Pillz-E, I went to Cafepress.com off the Neurotically Yours site and, on a whim, purchased two buttons to wear on the strap of my camera bag. Squirrels speak my mind.
These came in today.
If, for some reason, you still have trouble reading that one... "Side effects may include: Dizziness, drowsiness, bleeding from the eyes, heart explosions, alternate realities, brain spasms, and in rare cases, temporary symptoms of DEATH may occur."
Had a magazine meeting with Amanda, my co-conspirator for the Canadian Pagan magazine we're starting up and speaking about at the Toronto Pagan Conference this weekend. Meeting went well after a bit of confusion as to where exactly Timothy's Coffee was in the College Park building. We finally found Crystal, or rather she found us, and we got a lot done. I'm so excited about this project. This magazine, I've been wanting to do this for years, that's why I went into journalism. If this goes as well as I hope it goes, I want to do this fulltime, this is my career.
Bumped into Daniel near the end of our meeting, another fellow Pagan, that was interesting. We chatted for a bit before heading out in different directions. I met up with my buddy Adam and wandered around Queen.
Bought stuff. At HMV, I picked up the CD of Eddie Izzard's Glorious routine that he did back in 1997 actually. I didn't realize until I started listening to it that the routine's that old. Still relevant though a few references are kind of dated..modems, X-Files, Princess Diana's death, dated but we all still remember it.
Did I mention that Eddie Izzard is the voice of god? I love that man. I need to pick up his other routines on DVD.
See for yourself.
Had inexpensive but yummy Vietnamese pho for dinner. Yay for peasant dishes. We went to BMV, a really big used book, movie and video shop.
When I bought this, I thought I had purchased the most recent Anne Rice novel and had FINALLY completed my ENTIRE Anne Rice collection. Yes! I have all her novels, the novels she wrote under pseudonyms, and even her rare stuff, too. But..then I realized that she had just released another book, a second Christ the Lord novel called Road to Cana. Now I'm going to have to get that one, too. I don't know how I feel about the new Christian Anne. She's stated that all of her writing now is done in service of Jesus Christ. I miss her sexually deviant writings, her Perfect Devil Lestat. She's considering writing another Vampire Lestat novel, even though she said she wouldn't anymore, one that involves the Talamasca but it'd still be a Christian novel. I don't know how I feel about that.
When I got home I found this.
The first issue in my subscription to Revolver magazine. All metal music all the time. \m/ Now if ONLY they had publishing offices in Toronto, I'd be banging down their door demanding a job in seconds.
My buddy Ro from New York is an amazing writer. I stayed with her when I went to NYC last March for St. Patrick's Day and my school's journalism awards and conference. Fun times, but unfortunately she wasn't feeling too well. Anyway, she forwarded me the novel she's been working on with the tentative title of Under a Marked Moon. Not wanting to only read it while sitting at the computer, I printed it out on Hilroy 3-ring paper. Aside from a few glitches, it's a really interesting read. There's room to improve as it's still a work in progress.
Daniela's belated birthday party. I met one of her friends ther, Ali, who's a professional photographer...and just so happens to literally live four houses down the street from me. I own a Nikon D40X, he owns a Nikon D80, a higher version of my camera. He let me use his lens which has a fixed zoom of..close..but adjustable focus which focuses better than my lens as mine's an autofocus. This picture came out really orange but it still looks cool.
Janet, Chris, Daniela and Yevgeny.
HAHA, Yevgeny (which is Russian for Eugene) is..duh..Russian, so you would think the guy can hold his liquor. But at the end of the night a few beers and a few shots later, he's passed out on the couch. When you pass out from alcohol on someone else's couch at a party..you, my friend, become fair game. So I have photos of Daniela who pulled his pants down and started writing on his buttcheeks with red Sharpie. I was debating posting them... lol
Although once I have the rest of the photos edited, I'll post the link to the Facebook album.
This is the latest in viral marketing to hit Ontario. These ads appeared every so often but they started popping up more frequently now.
The day this is being posted is Friday, February 29th and at this time, the second half of the campaign has already been released. We now know what this is all about. I wish they didn't reveal it so fast and that there was a second wave before the reveal. Bah.
I woke up this morning and heard that a good section of Queen West and Bathurst was on fire with firefighters still on the scene. "Damn," I think, "that's one of my favorite hang-out spots". I actually work on Queen Street but on the other side, Queen East. My work wasn't affected but the moment I finished, I called up Lyanne, we met for coffee and went to check out what I now call the Queen Carnage.
This photo has not been edited except to resize. At 8 pm, firefighters were still putting out the fire. This is the damage and what's left of Duke's Cycle and Suspect Video. See the white pieces hanging off the powerlines? That's ice. It was so cold out that night that the water being used to put out the fire froze almost immediately. I saw photos of firefighters coming away from the scene with their helmets frozen over. You never think that ice would become an issue at the scene of a fire.
I still don't know what caused this fire...I just knew there was something weird in the air.
Have anything to do with the lunar eclipse? I don't think so, but it's an odd coincidence. I stood on my driveway freezing with my SLR camera and a small tripot snapping pictures of the eclipse which turned into not much else beyond lighted dots against black. Well, not entirely black, our streetlamps are really bright. I really need a telescope and plan on investing on one soon. I'm looking at photos people got with their regular camers and wondered why my Nikon D40X couldn't capture the same... Bah! But anyway, the big dot is the lunar eclipse, the dot on the lower left is Saturn and I still don't know what the dot above the moon is.
Skipped the gym and wandered Queen with Amber. I told her I'd meet her for coffee and after receiving a message that made my pulse race with anger, I had to go let off steam. I was going to let that happen by knocking a punching bag into oblivion at the gym but that didn't up happening. Instead, I wandered Queen West in the bitter cold with Amber.
Simple Plan were at Much..there's always something happening there.
Thanks. Who is this? read more
